I saw this story on the blog It's Ndel's World; You're Just Reading It and decided to add my two cents.
First there was the Glamour Magazine editor who said in a speech that Black women should not wear their hair natural to work because a Black woman's hair is unprofessional in appearance. Yep, that's what she said, read more from Ask This Black Woman who voiced her dismay and took action. Now on the Cover of Glamour the editors have decided that Ugly Betty star America Ferrera is too voluptuous, so they went Photoshop crazy and the result is hideous.
Glamour Magazine has my vote as worst magazine in the world for 2007.

If they can't appreciate her body in its full for they shouldn't put her on the cover.
I remember when Kate Winslet was telling everyone who would listen that wasn't her body. She's been very outspoken about the skinny obsession in Hollywood.
Black women can talk until the cows come home about attractive curves but it won't change until more Kate Winslets speak up.
Hi symphony,
I agree. T.V. guide did the same thing to Oprah a few years ago, I remember it got a lot of attention but it didn't change anything.
The real problem is the continued lack of diversity in media outlets. wheather it's magazines or electronic media if there are no Black women or men in editorial positions this kind of thing will continue.
I can't believe that in 2007 there is so much lack of diversity. So called conservatives talk about affirmative action with regard to African Americans but they never touch the subject of affrimative action for Whites. I live near San Francisco, a few years ago I remember picking up the San Francisco Chronicle and seeing an ad promoting the staff of writers and every one was White. If San Francisco was Salt Lake City that might not be a big deal but according to recent figures White people are actually a minority in San Francisco. So how does the only major newspaper in the city end up with a lily white staff? Affirmative action for whites.
