WNBA FINALS: Cappie Leads Phoenix To Victory!

Cappie Pondexter of the Phoenix Mercury (photo - above left) and teammate Tangela Smith (photo - above right) celebrate after defeating the Detroit Shock 108 - 92 earlier this evening in the final game of the 2007 WNBA Championship series.

Cappie Pondexter led her team to a decisive victory in Detroit scoring 26 and adding 10 assists. This amazing performance and others throughout the WNBA post season earned Cappie the WNBA Finals MVP award.

This victory for Phoenix in Detroit is also the first time a WNBA team has won the championship away from home.

WNBA Finals: Cappie Does It Again!

Cappie Pondexter (left) scored the winning basket tonight in game 4 of the WNBA Finals with 21.7 seconds left to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a 77 - 76 win over the Detroit shock. Cappie scored 26 in the game.

This is the second time in this years post season play that Cappie hit a critical shot to win. In game one of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Silver Stars with the score tied at 100 she made 2 free throws with just 2.1 seconds left in the game for the win.

The five game WNBA Championship series is now tied at two games each. See the decisive game this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. eastern on ESPN2 or listen live on WNBA radio.

WNBA Finals: Phoenix Falls To Detroit

In game three of the 2007 WNBA Finals the Detroit Shock defeat the Phoenix Mercury 88 to 83. The Shock now lead the best of five series 2 to 1. The Mercury will try to tie the series at home in Phoenix this Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. eastern. The game can be seen live on ESPN2 and listened to live online via WNBA radio.

WNBA Finals: Mercury Even Series With Shock

Cappie Pondexter (above left) and teammate Diana Taurasi (above right) led the Phoenix Mercury to a 98 to 70 win over the Detroit Shock last night in the second game of the best of five WNBA Finals.

Cappie who played at Rutgers in college had 18 points and Diana formally of UCONN scored 30.

Game three of the series is Tuesday night at 9 p.m. eastern in Phoenix and can be seen on ESPN2 or listened to via WNBA radio.

WNBA Finals: Detroit Shocks Phoenix

Swin Cash (left) and the Detroit Shock defeated Cappie Pondexter (bottom) and the Phoenix Mercury 108 to 100 in game one of the WNBA Finals. Cappie Pondexter scored 27 but it wasn't enough to win against the WNBA defending champs. The game was action filled including a late game scuffle between Cappie and Detroit's Deanna Nolan.

Game two is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. eastern in Detroit on ESPN2 and WNBA radio.
