Growing up in N.Y.C. I remember that my friends and I never referred to the World Trade Center buildings in any other way than calling them the twin towers. I have not been back to N.Y. since 9/11, the last time I was there I remember the familiar driving north on the New Jersey Turnpike and then being relieved as I had been dozens of times to see the twin towers, which meant that we were almost there. I can't imagine approaching the tunnel from the N.J. Turnpike and not seeing them, but they're gone. Apparently the city has decided to build something called the Freedom tower on the site where the towers stood, I wish they had decided to rebuild the twin towers.
2974 people lost there lives on September 11, 2001 in or around the twin towers.

I was born and raised in NYC, and the twin towers were part of the city landscape...without them, I don't even recognize the skyline.
I've lost all orientation while walking in NYC (before I moved)...they marked "downtown" and helped me figure out if I were going up or downtown without having to walk to the next street corner to see the street sign...I could figure it out with the twin towers, instead.
The city will never be the same, and it's not the same without the towers.
You're right, it won't be the same.
