I'm not at all a fan of Tyler Perry. I know a lot of people like his films. But I think men dressing up like Black women and acting like stereotypes is the same as White people who wear black face. And that goes for Eddie Murphy (Norbit) and Martin Lawrence (Big Mama's house) too.
Anyway I was digressing there because this post is really about a story I came across in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about Tyler Perry's Mansion in the Atlanta area (mocking Black women pays well). Apparently while building his 30,000 square foot home he's being hounded by a particular man.

Ms Deaux,
I'd have to disagree wwith you there.
There's a major diffeence between SQL, Eddie Murphy's Rasputia, and Madea. I don't like those characters either.
Shirley Q Liquor is odius because its a white, gay male portraying a character rooted in racist minstrel shows. The added insult is that he is part of the ethnic group and gender that created, nurtured and profited from those images.
Monica,
Okay I'm not sure if we actually disagree.
Since we both don't like Perry's and Eddie's characters and we both don't like that Liquor person. And yes you are right there is a difference but to me it's just degrees of harm they are doing.
Mainly we already have enough Black women actresses playing stereotypical roles (Sherri 'The View co-host Shepard) so I wish they would just stop.
I get your point though.
I was never a fan of Tyler Perry's plays or that type of character. But, much to my surprise I did like the Medea movies.
SQL and Murphy's characters, nope.
Jackie,
I've only seen the trailers for the Medea movies, that was enough for me.
I don't enjoy the predictability of Tyler's shows. . . Doesn't really have anything to do with anything else for me. Somebody always gets saved in the end . . Nothing wrong with getting saved, but . . .
Lisa,
Well he's really popular, according to that article he signed a 200 million dollar contract (that seems awfully high) so I'm in the minorty when it comes to not liking Tyler Perry. (lol)
The trailers of his movies did nothing for me either, but the word of mouth and the cast drew me in.
