(Back to the zucchini) As I was saying zucchini comes in yellow, at first I thought it was a funny looking squash, but after looking closer I realized what it was. So I bought some. It taste, to me, a bit different than green zucchini but not much. I've been buying all the usual vegetables, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, but I've become very adventurous as well. I have purchased Brussels sprouts, purple cauliflower, bok choy, kale, Chinese eggplant, string less string beans (because the stringed string beans are truly annoying) and varieties of squash. And I plan to try many many more.
I've also given up sweets for fruit. I've had fun buying exotic and not so exotic fruit. I've eaten Mangoes, figs, kiwi, blueberries, blackberries, heirloom tomato's (yes tomato's are a fruit) and good old banana's (fair trade banana's even). I just this week purchased a quince. The only thing I knew about quince's when I bought it was that it was an answer to a jeopardy question posed to Rosie Perez' character in the film White Men Can't Jump. I haven't eaten it yet because I have to look quince up on the internet to figure out how to eat it.
I really wish I had gotten into vegetables (I refuse to call them veggies) long ago. The benefits of eating them are great. For instance even though I wasn't trying to lose weight I have. Also the combination of fruit and vegetables have given me a lot more energy. There is no sugar rush from eating fruit the way there is from eating refined sugar and that darn high fructose corn syrup, just a nice energized feeling that lasts. Another thing is and I'm really not sure if I can attribute this to my new diet, I'm sleeping better. Who knows, it could be.
So I'm going to be on the lookout for more fruits and vegetables that I've not seen or eaten before and I might even get crazy and try to cook my own whole wheat bread (that's gonna be a while).

you've spelt "two" wrong in your title - should be "deux".....
HI,
Thanks, I realize I spelled it wrong. (lol) It was a few days after I started my blog. I have been trying to decide if I should correct it - but since someone noticed I have. Although I think it's still going to appear in other places incorrectly. (sigh!)
Okay, here is the problem. If I correct the spelling, when someone does a search for "Mes Deux Cents", they won't find my blog. So, I'm going to have to leave the spelling incorrect, however I have posted the correct spelling underneath the title.
Also some other bloggers have linked my blog on their sites so it will just get too complicated. But thanks again.
Ok, I love yellow squash. Is it different from zuchini? Looks the same. I have a really simple delicious dish of yellow (or green) squash and onions sauted in butter. Easy and mmm,mmm good.
Trying new fruits? Yum. Have you tried apple pears? Sometimes known as Japanese apple pears which are a blend of the two fruits. They are refreshing, crisp and sweet and tasty. I'm trying to work more good stuff in my diet too.
Hi Jackie,
I think if you have a recipe for squash, zucchini should work fine instead, although zucchini may require a few minutes more cooking time. And yes yellow squash and yellow zucchini are different. You can tell the yellow zucchini from squash by the little flower on top of the zucchini.
And thanks for letting me know about apple pears. They sound great. I'm going to try and find pommegrante this week, I havn't had one since I was a kid.
I find eating healthy is fun, as long as you aren't doing it to lose weight. Then it's a chore. I look forward to finding different food every week.
