Cappie Pondexter led her team to a decisive victory in Detroit scoring 26 and adding 10 assists. This amazing performance and others throughout the WNBA post season earned Cappie the WNBA Finals MVP award.
This victory for Phoenix in Detroit is also the first time a WNBA team has won the championship away from home.

They've also become the thrid Original WNBA team to win the title after the LA Sparks and 'ahem' the Houston Comets
Hi Monica,
Thanks I didn't know that and I pride myself on knowing WNBA info. (lol)
My bad,
Actually the Mercury are the fourth Original WNBA team to win a title. Forgot about the Sacramento Monarchs.
I probably forgot about them because they beat my girls that year to get into the WNBA Finals ;)
Hi Monica,
I like the Monarchs. I think Kara Lawson, Nicole Powell and Kristin Haynie are great players.
I remember watching Nicole play on tv when she was at Stanford. And I remember Kristin from the NCAA tournament when she was at Michigan.
Also Kara did a grat job as a sideline reporter for the NBA on ESPN last season.
And sorry they beat Houston. (lol)
