The Night I Found Loneliness
By
Mes Deux Cents
I walked down a deserted street
I was looking for the moon
It was a street that went nowhere
I continued to walk
Though I knew I was lost
Which was okay
I'd been lost before
The street I walked was crooked
And on it was bougainvillea
Pink is what I remember
I saw a light in a window
And a shadow
Which reminded me I was alone
I remembered I was looking for the moon
I thought I saw it off to the right
A streetlight
I stopped
Pondered my situation
I realized again that I was alone
And it was night
I decided to be brave
To keep walking on that crooked street
That's when I saw it
shimmering in the summers heat
Loneliness
That was the night
Cobble beneath my feet
I'd found a crooked street
That went nowhere
On it there was no moon
There was just me
That was the night I found loneliness
