So, yesterday I was walking around at lunch. As I stopped to wait to cross the street I noticed two guys at a bus stop, one guy had one of those electronic level doohickeys. He was adjusting it and the other guy was seemingly pushing the bus stop sign pole. I wondered if these two guys were actually trying to straighten the bus stop pole? It was something I had never seen before. I've seen a thousand bus stop poles but I'd never seen anyone straightening one before. My curiosity got the better of me. So even though I don't normally approach people I don't know. I walked over and asked if indeed they were straightening the bus stop sign pole? The guy I asked looked at me and said, "yep", in a matter of fact way. I then asked (tentatively) is that all he and his workmate did? And guess what he said, "yep".
Is it just me or is that really strange that there are people who do nothing else but make sure the bus stop sign poles are all level?
Who knew?

OMG! That's all they do? What a job.
"Hey, there's one leaning a bit to the left. Let's get it!"
I suppose they may straighten other bigger poles too and there may be some intricacies to this that we don't see. And, I suppose after they spend zillions to make a leveler doohickey, they gotta use it. Good for them.
This is really good information. I need to keep this "career choice" in mind when things at work are hectic and stupid!
Jackie,
You are probably right, they might also straighten telephone poles too.
(lol)
Lisa,
I messed up, I should have asked them where to apply, just in case. (lol)
