-Why do African American men comprise the largest demographic of homeless people in the U.S.?
- Is it possible that animals such as dolphin think humans are complete idiots?
-Why do people feel the need to defend their religion and their God? Do they think that what ever God they believe in really needs their help?
- Do you think it's a good idea to pay parents to make sure their kids go to school and get good grades?
What do you think?

Should Social Security be for everyone? I really don't get why affluent people receive Social Security payments when they retire. Isn't the point of Social Security to provide a safety net for those who need it?

yes and no on this one-it's hard to say because it was created for everyone that meets the criteria and then we get upset (& i feel rightly so)because the rich get checks also. it is a catch 22 to me.
i don't feel they need it as much as the rest of us do. they cheat on so many things that they do not need--like finacial aid--but it is what it is.

oh my goodness...the reasons behind why so many black men do not have homes is huge. i am almost afriad to start the list off-lol-
but keeping in mind the unequalness of working and living in america because of racism--i would wager to say that some of it is because of = having a slave mentality, not wanting to work 'for the man', drugs, being a vet, bad choices with their money, trying to look successful and not BEing successful,,,and on and on...
**
hahahahaaa--u know, i also wonder what do animals think of us...i would think that they think us to be strange...

a friend of mine and i were discussing this topic the other day. i don't feel that God needs my help in taking up for Himself. From what i have learned- He is doing a fine job at His work. i too wonder why people get so offended when others speak their opinions-or draw a cartoon-or create any art work that is not in good taste--as art and as something that puts religion in a bad light--i mean--it's theirs not mine.
but i guess some people are not as strong in their faith as others are and they feel a need to take up for their 'religion' and their 'god'.
and maybe their god does need their help...ok i'll stop--lolol-- but what comes to mind as i read that question is Elijah and the 450 prophets of baal.
to me religion is manmade-'the way' comes from believing in Jesus.

HECK NAW! paying parents so their children go to school and get good grades...lolol--let me get that laugh out--i've heard this before--and i laughed then also--people are a trip, that is what parents should want for their kids.
a better life than they had-but what also needs to be taught to kids by parents (as AM and i have discussed) is, when you preach to your kids about the importance of a good education and all it can afford you--don't forget to tell them about the unfairness, the racism, the cons, the pits and dips that life is full of--and that an education by itself will not prepare you for that.
having a good education will not make people accept you because of it.
and it will not make you a better person character wise, by itself.
and that, much of what we want our schools to teach will not be--and therefore should come from the homes.
many parents in their eyes send their children to school prepared with pencils, paper, a lunch box, crayons and such--but many of them come to school without 'the want/the desire to learn.'
in that respect-they are unprepared for school.
they also come without a respect for learning for all people-and for adults.
good post MDC...got me thinking early--i love it!
positivity is how i live!
I don't think Social Security benefits should apply towards wealthy people. That defeats the purpose of the program, imo.
Black men are haunted by so many demons that it's easier for a Black Man to give up, throw in the towel and pretty much become a fighter of nothing.
@ what dolphins may think of humans: Good ish, lol.
You make a great point. I keep telling everyone how, throughout history, religious zealots have pretty much started 75% of the wars ever fought on this planet.
Sadly, I do think some kids would benefit from their parents being paid to parent them. I know it's not the politically correct answer, but these are trying times we live in.
Rich people don't need Social Security. They need to change the age for black men to 30 because so many of them never collect any of it.
We love our black boys when they are young but when they get older and don't do good in life we drop them along the way side. I think that they need our love always and some need our help always.
Yes.
That is a good one. Because they don't know the real God.
No.
Do you think it's a good idea to pay parents to make sure their kids go to school and get good grades?
Parents should do those things, its their responsibility. But I understand why people want to do it. You are essentially paying people off to influence their kids by having them exposed to things their parents wouldn't otherwise do.
You're saying, "Hey, your parents are f'ing idiots but that doesn't mean you should suffer."
You are hoping that if you get to them at a young enough age you can influence them to make a generational change. Maybe they will change and their will raise good kids, etc.
Because the economics of it all leads me to believe its cheaper to influence kids at a young change and mold them to be self-sufficient and a productive citizens than pay for them while they are on welfare, public housing, and jail and pay for their kids too.
Hey, Mes Deux, you ask some very good questions. I have to think about it.
Life is tough. I am really to the point that I cry at births instead of funerals.
Sidebar: Don, I miss you. Take care of yourself.
I think I found the answer to the Dolphin question. There is an insightful video here.
1. Wealthy people SHOULD NOT receive Social Security when they retire!!
2. Are these stats factual or propaganda?
3. Yes.
4. I don't know. Maybe they just like to hear themselves talk??? :)
5. Here's the question I was trying to get to. . . I don't think parents should be paid, but I do think we should pay kids. I find that one main reason a lot of students drop out of my school is because they need to work - survival is more important than school. When you a poor, it is more important how you will eat dinner or where you will stay than this long term goal of education paying off in the long-run. Middle class kids and wealthy kids have parents who provide basic necessities for them. . . I'll stop now - don't want to post - only respond :)
Wisdom Teaches Me,
"but i guess some people are not as strong in their faith as others are and they feel a need to take up for their 'religion' and their 'god'."
I think that might have a lot to do with it. If you truly believe then you should be able to find peace and that should be enough.
About Black men being homeless, I think you mentioning Veterans is really key. So many Vets Black and other wise have many problems that the VA does not address. Symphony at Essential Presence just posted about that on her blog.

Don,
I'm inclined to agree with you about paying parents. You're right it's not pc to say so. But we keep losing generations, we need radical solutions.

JJ B,
That's what George Bush said too, remember, about Black men not living long enough to collect it. That's a shame but kind of true. I hope we can get Black men living longer though.
"We love our black boys when they are young but when they get older and don't do good in life we drop them along the way side. I think that they need our love always and some need our help always."
You make a great point about letting Black men drop by the way side. It's so true. Some Black men are sent packing when they are still teens. That makes me sad.

Yeah that is kind of what it's about. I get your point but how many generations can we afford to lose?
I think that we need to try something; we can't let this go on. We have millions of Black kids dropping out of school every year. They will become the new permanent under-class.
"Because the economics of it all leads me to believe its cheaper to influence kids at a young change and mold them to be self-sufficient and a productive citizens than pay for them while they are on welfare, public housing, and jail and pay for their kids too."
Exactly, either we pay on the front end or the back end. Let's try the front end.

Wow, that's so sad; but I know what you mean. It's like you can look at some Black babies and feel so helpless to stop what's coming for them.

Ehav,
Thanks for the vid. I let you know what I think of it.

Lisa,
From what I have seen with my own eyes and from reading, it is true that Black men are the largest group of homeless. Lol, you are getting as skeptical as me!
How would that work, I mean the logistics of paying kids?
I'm with it as long as the kids aren't just going to blow the money.
How about a combination of paying parents and paying kids; I wouldn't want to see a situation where parents are taking money from the kids.
You never have to hold back here. Say what you feel!

Yes, pay parents so I can get a fat check in the mail and go buy my human weeds some more pants!
In all seriousness, that's such a bad idea, but I do think it speaks to how folks have lost a motivation to be truly educated for the sake of education...we worship the dollar so much that we are only motivated by money.
Liz,
Lol, that's cute; human weeds.
It sounded like a bad idea to me too, until I thought about the kids we are losing everyday. I just feel that maybe desperate times call for desperate measures.

1. How exactly does social security work in the States? I've heard of it, but I'm not very clued in.
2. Wow! I didn't know this. I thought the majority would be White men.
3. Ha ha! They probably think we are morons when it comes to certain issues.
4. I find that religious people take their religion VERY personal. So I expect that they do not appreciate people challenging the foundation of their beliefs.
5. Nope.
Superwoman,
Basically everyone who works has money taken out of their pay during all of their working life.
Then when they retire they then get a certain amount of money back. Everyone who works gets it, and I think that it also covers the disabled.
The system is going broke; they say that there are too many older people getting money and not enough working people putting money into the system.
