Despite the fact the Amy Winehouse had Visa problems and couldn't make it to the show she still won five out of six Grammy's that she was nominated for last night in Los Angeles at the Grammy Awards
She won Record of the year, Song of The Year, and Female Pop Vocal Performance , all for the song Rehab. She also won Grammy's for Pop Vocal Album and Best New Artist.

I tried to watch a bit of the Grammy's and overall I wasn't really impressed with many performances. I thought Kanye West's ode to his mother was heartwarming.
The performance by Tina Turner and Beyonce was lackluster. I know a lot of people really like Beyonce but I really don't think she sings very well outside of the studio.
The Time also performed and that was interesting seeing all of the members on stage together. That performance was shared with a weak performance by Rihanna whom I really like otherwise.
Another thing that bugs me about the Grammy's is that even though I live on the West Coast, which is where the Grammy's are held, I am forced to watch a taped show. The people on the East Coast get the live show. That's really wierd to me. I wish they would broadcast live like the Academy Awards.
Anyway the best part of the evening was Amy Winehouse winning five awards. I hope her time in real rehab sticks.
Although this song (above) wasn't nominated for any awards last night, it's my favorite song by Amy.

What did you think of the Grammy's?

I messed around and forgot the Grammy Awards came on last night. I missed it.
Bad thing about it, CBS doesn't show replays like the cable channels. Maybe I will see a few performance on YoutTube, eventually.
I forgot they were on as well and as I was flipping channels I caught the tail end of Tina Turner doing proud Mary....dang I want to be that fly when I'm her age and I watched Kanye doing 'Mama' online and it was touching...such a tragic loss but the grammy's are just so bland but haven't they always been except for the rare performances. They have tried to step it up to keep up with the AMA and other more youthful awards. but they're blah.
also Mme DeauxCents, I spent yesterday reading blog after blog and I don't know how I previously missed yours but I love it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading so many of the back posts. it was a great and much needed moment of de-stressing since I can't just hop on a plane an satisfy my wander lust. I have been laughing all day at AG-NER....I've added you to my favorites. :)
Don,
You didn't miss much. I was writing posts and watching.

Afrochic,
Thanks for checking the archives. I'll never forget that woman, she was just so sure she knew how to pronounce it. Lol
I'm losing it because I thought I replied here and saw it was on Ms JJ's blog. Sad.... Anyhow, the Grannies are boring to me now as I get older. I read about Tina's hip or whatever and would not have wanted to see that. Glad I missed it but then I missed seeing Morris Day & The Time. Oh hell, I missed it the year Prince performed too and won his Lifetime award. Oh well....
As for Amy Declinehouse... I hope the awards she won is a clear indication to her to get back on track and off the whack. She is one of the FEEEEEEEEEW females I will listen to. I don't do female artist at all, don't ask why. Xzibit & Shaggy both gave her rave reviews and that's why I checked her out at all.
I totally agree, MDC, about Beyonce... she got out-sung by Tina. But then, Tina got out-legged by Beyonce, so it evens out.
Great to see the Time jammin' again.
Lady Di,
I'm pulling for Amy too. She is an amazing talent.
It was very interesting seeing Morris Day and Jimmy Jam and Jerome on stage.
UBM,
It was funny seeing Tina still doing her little trademark dance move. Lol
The Time complete with Jerome and mirror come here quite often and at free events which I love too. I've seen them a few times LIVE!! YESSSSSSSS!!!!
I didn't see the Grammy's - but I so agree with this song!!!
Hi Brown Love,
I also really like Moody's Mood For Love on Amy's Frank Cd. Have you heard that?
