I used to spend a fortune on them. And I always bought two of them. One I would use to cut out the fashions I liked and the other to save. Back then I still read Essence magazine and would collect them. I had years of issues of Essence magazines.
Throughout my life I have had other things I liked to collect; like fridge magnets from places I have visited, airline ticket jackets and luggage tags, and radio station stickers from all over the world.
I collected the airline stuff when I worked for an airline; I had tags from airlines all over the world. I still collect radio station stickers. I have them from all over; Italy, France, Canada, even Syria and Iran. I began collecting those when I worked in radio.
I also collect (don't laugh) Sasha Bratz dolls. I love them and have about 7 now. I also have a few Scary Spice dolls and 3 WNBA dolls. I started collected dolls about three years ago.
I don't know why I collect stuff. I just enjoy it. I enjoy finding the stuff and displaying it. I wouldn't say collecting is an obsession but I do really get into it.
Do you collect anything?
If so have you ever thought about why you collect?

I collect Bratz dolls, I have about 100's of them and up. I also collect Baby-Sitters Club books. I collect them because its fun.
MDC great question. I collect black figurines mostly from the Annie Lee collection and I don't know why.
Luxury house magazines: Architectural Digest, Christie's Great Estates, etc. I had over 50 of them pre-Katrina (no small feat when you consider the Christie's cost $10 each) but had to get rid of some when I moved from MS to Atlanta. I dream of renovating an old house one day; I think that's why I collect them.
LOL...
ok, my collections are= chuck taylor converse-paint brushes-colored pencils-wood/metal boxes/containers--journals-T-Shirts-key chains-Books-TURTLES-model cars-and gadgets....huuummm, these are my main ones--LOLO
---------
i have a thing for magazines also,,,not really collecting them-but just never throwing them away--LOLO
my daughter has a collection of dolls--not the kind you play with-one of her godfathers would buy them while he was working-for an airline-from all over the world! he started this the week she was born in 1997--he got her at least 20 before he died a few years ago--so they really are special!
sorry, no bratz--we do not like them and they are not allowed in this house!
dang girl on cover looks like my ex, but yea, coins, stamps, baseball cards, comic books, african art (specifically Dogon carvings, and west African oils) and wine
No. Maybe.
I have wanted sand, lately.
So, I have sand from the Bahamas and Miami and Destin, Florida.
Exciting, heh?
Sasha Bratz Rock Angelz...
She's kinda hot; but I'm not feelin' the 10 foot long hair.
My daughters loved anything from Kim Possible and Dora The Explorer. It soon got to the point where they were collecting those items.
Growing up, I used to collect Rap Magazines. I can't really say I collect too much of anything now...maybe pass due bills.
I always wanted to work in radio; sounds cool.
I used to collect male posters of celebs, Prince stuff ANYTHING, buttons with words from anywhere (have 3 shirts filled with them still), keychains from across the globe, fridge magnets too many to count but the fridge has no color except magnet, hats n caps, t-shirts and anything purple of course. Now, it's just anything purple and more purple. I still have some old magazines somewhere dating back to the 70's but they are not in good condition I bet.
I don't collect anything, unless you count books - there are hundreds of those cluttering up the place, most of which I'll never read again. I once knew a woman who collected glass ornaments. She had dozens and dozens of them and I was always terrified of smashing half her collection with a careless hand gesture.
I used to collect those Fabrege eggs, but my darn kids kept breaking them! also seem to collect other peoples kids, they turn up at my house and practically live there!
I also keep books, I can't really say I collect them but I buy, read and keep them!
Nope. I think my "stuff" wouldn't count as a collection, but as "items from a pack rat". Anyway, I have lots of books - but I do not intentionally collect them.
sigh
I'm a slight hoarder. I collect Democratic campaign buttons and stickers. I also have a small collection of Time magazine articles. When I was in high school, I had a collection of New York Times newspapers. My mom made me get rid of them because the spiders were being drawn to them.
I'm afraid to throw anything like Time magazines away because I may need them for references.....
Fulliem,
Bratz dolls are fun! Enjoy!

I collect Buddhas. I have buddhas from my travels in China, Japan, Thailand (bought in Japan, though) and Korea.
I don't have many, ironically. I only buy what strikes me.
I love the round, serene faces of the Buddhas. They always remind me that I am a spirit having a human ecperience, not the other way around.
Oh celebrity collecting sighting for you MDC. You remember LA Law? Well Corbin Bernsen (sp??) has a collection of snow globes that he started at around 400 years ago. I think, I think his new museum will house 6000+ for display. You might want to verify as I watched his whole interview when he said that and for the life of me the actual count is not in my head. I saw it on the TV Guide channel where he was talking about that new game show he's hosting.
Hi DMB,
Buddhas are interesting; I see them all at flea markets all the time. I have often considered getting one.
I do collect Lakshmi things, like posters and statues.

Lady Di,
I'll have to look that up, snow globes are really unusual.
I haven't figured that out. My bahama sand is in an envelope and has been since I received it about a year ago. I need to find a thingy to put it in.
My Destin, Florida sand came in a little jar.
My Miami sand -- er, where is my Miami sand?????
I haven't figured out the display part yet. I just collect... maybe... I think.
Baby Please,
You should try apothecary jars.
