Here is what he said;
From Blogcritics.com - Speaking Wednesday night at a Washington fund-raiser to retire the debt from his 2004 presidential campaign, Nader complained that Democratic Party powerbrokers had kept him off the ballot in such Southern states as Georgia and Virginia - which reminded him of the oppressive Jim Crow laws that denied African-Americans equal rights.
"I felt like a [n-word]," said Nader. (paragraph attribution: Blogcritics/ June 17, 2005)
How is it that a so-called politician, Nader, can use the "N" word and then think he can run for President? I have no interest in anything Ralph Nader has to say and I find it offensive that he has the audacity to run for President after his "N" word incident.
Does it bother you that Ralph Nader used the "N" word?
Are you willing to take him seriously knowing of his past use of the "N" word?

I feel Nader is a self rightous, self important jerk. I am not surprised he used the word nigger, or that he thinks he can equate his situation with that of a Jim Crow era black man.
Nader, IMO does not really care about this nation and only comes out when the democrats threaten with a decent candidate. So here he comes again.
If he was so intent on his issues that he must enter the race on the Green Ticket, why doesn't he work hard to enhance that party between elections? He is an opportunist who'll say whatever for attention.
oooh, oooh, oooh...mdc, i truly didn't know this yet! i am not as shocked as i probably should be, on the other hand i am probably lacking a true understanding of African-American history here. it helped me a little to see he used the word as a comparison and not to call someone else by it. still, it is no good thing to do, if you want to have political prospects whatsoeer...
now i have to reconsider my opinion about nader. i am very sorry to hear this, as i was truly enthusiastic about his ongoing struggle to split up the concentrated power of a two-party-'democracy'...
thank you for the information.
I didn't know about his use of the N-word. Thanx for pointing it out. Personally, I think that Nadar is irrelevant...
peace, Villager
not that i am a huge fan of nader, i agree with 'some' of his thoughts on certian issues,
but i see nothing wrong with the way he used the word....black folk use it and other black people pay for their songs and books when they use it...
i'm not offended by his use of the word-nor when black people use it--i'm not a nigger...so calling me one would be like calling me a bird or a cat...means nothing to me...
at this point of my life..offense is not a tool that will harm or hurt me, nor can it be a tool used to TRY to dismantle my Home!
you can only be offended if you allow yourself to be. same thing with intimidation-can't touch me.
i would be a wreck if i let every shallow-negative and jealous person speak their words of death unto my life! they can speak it all--but i do not allow it in my spirit!
not possible!
i have too many other things that are of importance on my mind then to be offended by a white man-a blue man-a green man-a black man-etc....some fool!
what would be the difference if a black person said = "man, those black people made me feel like a cracker when they did that !" ?
I've never taken Ralph Nader seriously, whether he uses the N word or not.
In fact, it makes my apathy towards him more stringent.
Yes.
No.
Wow, I'm scratching my head, thinking where was I in 2005? I don't recall hearing the expected uproar I would have expected if a presidential candidate used the "N" word. Perhaps I was just busy.
At any rate, it does bother me when anyone uses the word. Part of me wishes it didn't have power over me anymore, but the other part can't ever get to the point where I can accept us using it as some sort of twisted term of endearment - that, it will never be.
I had no idea that he used the N word. That makes me despise him even more. All he wants is the attention. He does not want what is best for the country. I'm so upset that he is running, that I have vowed not to blog about him. We don't need to pay any attention to him. My wish is that everyone just ignores him. Don't give him any press. No news stories, no blog posts. Ignore him and he will fade away. All he wants is the publicity.
his n-word usgae is of no consequence...he's vapor to me anyways
first time on this blog...nice
I never knew that Nader said that. Thanks for the knowledge. He was already irrelevant to me. And this news doesn't change that thought.
Oh, it doesn't bother me that he used the N-word. It bothers me that he feels anyone would take him seriously. I think he's lost his mind. Counseling may be a better option for him.
I didn't know that he used the 'N' word... WOW. That's highly inappropriate and vulgar. I never considered him to be a serious candidate though.
Thanks for this information. I didn't know he used that word. I see the context in which he used it, but that doesn't change that he really oughtn't promote, use, that word.
I really never gave him too much thought, to be honest.
WHO? is all I will say MDC... you know I speak very little on politics fro a reason and I say WHO?? again.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know he used it either. And there really was no reason for him to do so in that context.
This year, unlike 2004, there are MAJOR differences between the GOP and the Dems, so there is no reason for him to run. I don't think he's offering anything the people need, or even want.
Check my Sharing the Knowledge Tip #8 (Free College) and feel free to post it if you like. I'm trying to really spread the word.
I think him even considering jumping in the race now is a last minute ditch effort that will probably not work. he is of no consequence to the race.
Jackie,
I think he might be running to get out of debt from his last campaign.

Kayoz,
