Wait, wait don't tell me. It's coming to me. I've got it! Tom Ridge former Homeland Security Secretary! He just looked so familiar. It seems like he was on T.V. almost every week a few years ago. There were all sorts of terror alerts - subways in New York City, Anthrax and the ever popular unknown threats. Wasn't Tom Ridge the guy that made duct tape popular again?Anyway, what happened to the terror alerts? Has terrorism been eradicated? Did the new Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff make friends with all the terrorists? Or, does George Bush have them all detained at Guantanamo?
And since we're on the subject of scaring the heck out of everybody, what ever happened to SARS? Anybody......well okay what about Bird Flu? Between the two of them half the earth's population was supposed to be wiped out. And now, nothing.
Obviously I'm being sarcastic, but my sarcasm belies my anger. As El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz is attributed with saying in Spike Lee's Film Malcolm X, we've been Hoodwinked, bamboozled.
All that fear mongering from just before the American war in Iraq until just before the 2004 elections, then flat line, nothing.
I guess the Bush administration only scares us when they need to go to war or be re-elected. I recently heard someone talking about the Presidents brother Jeb Bush running for President in 2012, so I guess they will be putting the terror alerts away until then.
