Growing up in N.Y.C. I remember that my friends and I never referred to the World Trade Center buildings in any other way than calling them the twin towers. I have not been back to N.Y. since 9/11, the last time I was there I remember the familiar driving north on the New Jersey Turnpike and then being relieved as I had been dozens of times to see the twin towers, which meant that we were almost there. I can't imagine approaching the tunnel from the N.J. Turnpike and not seeing them, but they're gone. Apparently the city has decided to build something called the Freedom tower on the site where the towers stood, I wish they had decided to rebuild the twin towers.2974 people lost there lives on September 11, 2001 in or around the twin towers.
