What the heck! Just try a google search with "A new study on African Americans says", and see what results you get.
I for one am sick, sick of it. I know that we can't expect so-called Black leaders to challenge these studies. After all the bread and butter for people like Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton is jumping on any bandwagon that is associated with some "condition" of the Black community.
Why is there never a study that give us positive information? For instance did you know that there are right now more African Americans in college than ever before in our history?
More and more I am believing that many, if not most of these studies are just propaganda. Think about it, if you want someone to feel defeated, just tell them constantly that they're a loser. And that is what's done to African Americans almost on a daily basis. Whether it's the White Media or ourselves discussing all that's wrong with us.
I know that African America has problems. But have you ever wondered why other ethnic communities don't constantly focus on what's wrong with them? Do we hear constant studies about what's wrong in Hispanic America? Or White America?
Why are we the only group of people that is in a constant state of suffering from some all encompassing malady? And why are people and groups always doing studies about us, are they obsessed with African Americans? Or maybe they know that any study about African Americans will receive loads of attention.
I wish just once a historically Black university would challenge one of these studies. I am absolutely positive that some of these studies could not hold up to a scientific challenge. No one ever tries to replicate these things. We just believe every word, even when we have know idea who the source of the study is or what agenda they might have.
So get ready, because next week is coming and as sure as the sun is going to shine there will be a new study out telling us how badly we are doing.
Brace yourself!

I 100% agree with you. 100%!
This is why Bill Cosby's book and appearance on Meet the Press bug me so much. I haven't seen anyone Latino writing books and getting on national TV talking about how trifling Latinos are.
There are good things happening with black people, but we'd never know it according to the media.
Hi Liz,
African Americans buy into whatever negative thing that's said about us. I for one am tired of it.
I think the constant chatter about whats wrong simply creates an evironment that gives some people license to not try. After all if you are told day after day that you are not making any progress then what's the point.
