Have you watched the evening news on ABC, CBS or NBC lately? All those programs have become unwatchable. It is bad enough that out of a twenty minute news broadcast you are subjected to at least five minutes of fluff. Now on top of that you are made to watch commercial after commercial touting some drug. Not only do these drug company commercials push the drug but on every one the viewer is subjected to the disgusting side effects. So watching the news and eating dinner is out of the question. And if you are a hypochondriac they provide a whole new list of symptoms every evening. Also it occurred to me that if drug companies are the major sponsors of network news, then can we trust honest reporting on those drug companies? I think the answer is obvious, no. There is no way the parent companies of those evening news broadcasts are going to kill the cash cow. So if there is some issue concerning the safety of a drug, we will all have to look elsewhere for credible information.
And one last thing. On most days the three networks start with the same lead story. How does that happen? And if the three networks are covering the same stories almost in the same order throughout their broadcasts, why do we need three network news broadcasts? Shouldn't they just merge the broadcasts into one and simulcast them on the three networks?
